To begin, what we talk of, is not Tao.
That said, we can say this about Tao, if while saying this we understand that what we say is only our words, pointing to Tao, not Tao.
Tao may be viewed as the source and womb of creation. Unnamable, inexpressible, indefinable, Tao is the natural universe as a whole and the Way of nature as a whole. Undifferentiated wholeness and the womb of the limitless manifest things.
Many people, spiritual seekers, are looking for some “major” experience of undifferentiated wholeness: Tao. Their seeking seems to often take them from the very Tao they are seeking.
It doesn’t have to be that Way. Deeply experiencing Tao can happen in the little moments. Any moment. This moment.
This moment we can experience Tao, be Taoing, by deeply witnessing a single breath, a single thought, or a single embodied physical sensation we are experiencing as our emotional world.
When we experience Tao, this Way, the Tao of Taoing becomes limitless.
Just as we can experience “wetness” with a single drop of water we experience Tao with a single breath. This single breath is simultaneously all the Tao (as manifest in this moment, this now, Tao) and just one manifestation of Tao.
A single drop of water contains all that water contains.
Simultaneously, water is experienced and manifests limitlessly; a single drop, in a cup, as gentle rains to hurricanes, mists and dew and clouds, rivers from gentle to rough, oceans with all its tides and as sweat, blood and tears.
From its subtlest & unseen manifestation to its coarsest & most visible we are engulfed & embedded in the “sea” of Tao. An undifferentiated wholeness that is infinite, constantly in a state of transformation & change and forever (through what we call life and death) giving birth to itself.
This oneness, this Tao, enfolds within and holds us in her womb at all times …and beyond what we call time.
Completely and always accessible and well beyond the grasp of human experience and comprehension we are embedded in the cosmic womb: taoing.
Grateful for each breath and deeply blessed from the great unknowing. Alive in the cosmic womb limitlessly giving birth to itself.
poem 1: early morning tao
waking with my thoughts
there is no satisfaction
grasping for happiness
it slips through my fingertips
by water’s edge
listening to waves meeting shore
moonlight glistening in gray sky
i am content
poem 2: tao sixty seven
a professor/at a dinner party/with great delight
informed me/my path/ is nonsense
years later/a happier woman/a medical researcher
told me/ my way is lofty/yet unrealistic
my friend/ram giri/loved to see love/
seeing only love /my nonsense/made real sense
mind love/heart love/belly love
wisdom/compassion/spirit
yes/travel this way/
10,000 things/no thing/love
poem 3: this is loving the tao
few things are as pleasing
when we finally get them
as they were tempting
when we were desiring them
the joy of satisfying our desire
quickly transforms into more desire
do nothing learn the lasting pleasure
of discovering how much you do not need
discovering all that you do not need
enjoy unearthing the vastness
of all that you already have
this is loving the tao
poem 4: love is the tao
love is a mystery
mystery is subtle unseen limitless
consumed by our perceptions
seduced by our thinking
caged in our personalities
walking in our burdened bodies
we lose love
responding to the mysterious call
dissolving what we do not need we too become subtle
the mystery the way of divine consciousness
is the true purpose for our human experience
divine mystery seeks to birth through our human form
when we birth and walk in the divine mystery
we are love
poem 5: crazy wisdom tao
the world has a beginning
call it tao or call it mother
love mother see tao
to see tao dim the lights look in ordinary places
or do this look out see love everywhere
to love the mother feed her children
see all beings as the mother’s children
to be successful stop trying acceptance is the way
close your mouth often to speak wisdom
put your fingers in your ears to hear
welcome your fear of death and be free
when you feel hopeless do no thing
all this is called flowing in limitless love
poem 6: random tao
this i realize more each day
letting go of attachments is easy
it is much harder to resist the hate
what has happened has already happened
what has not yet happened needs no attention
now is the time to know the now
this is why i love the moon
besides knowing it is there
there is no thing to know
in my garden there is no dust to sweep
trying to end my delusions they increase
still the moonlight illuminates the leaves
the water is behaving like waves
the shore is acting like rocks
see how they know their oneness
This was life-changing. You have a unique ability to mill the profundity of existence into manageable sentences that percolate into my cognition...I'm so thankful!
Ahhhh reading your writings today is like taking a sip of refreshing water that nourishes my soul. My soul recognizes this truth. Thank you for the nourishment.
I have been considering whether to commit to this platform for my writings and poems as well— and with each of your writings— you pull me in closer to the possibility.
Blessings.
